Bibel-Passage: Römer 13,4

Here are some of the arguments many Christians use against biblical death penalty:
1. Doesn’t one of the Ten Commandments say Thou shalt not kill?
2. The death of Jesus abolished the death penalty.
3. a) The death penalty was instituted to only show that God hates sin. In the New Testament, the death of Jesus shows that God hates sin. The death penalty was only symbolic, because if it were literal, everyone deserves to die.
b) Jesus said, whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Since no one was ever put to death for looking at someone lustfully, the death penalty was not meant to be taken literally.
c) King David not being put to death is proof that the death penalty was never literally enacted.
4. He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her is proof that Jesus is against the death penalty.
5. An eye for and eye makes the whole world blind.
